Plan your classroom visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Students explore the past and present of Alaska's eleven indigenous cultures in a traditional setting under the guidance of Alaska Native instructors.

How to make a school programs reservation
Anchorage School District Teachers:
- Fill out a “Community Resource Request Form.”
- Fax the completed form to 907-742-4137.
Private schools, organizations and schools outside of Anchorage:
- Teachers can call the Alaska Native Heritage Center for a reservation 907-330-8000 or toll free 800-315-6608. Scheduler's direct line - (907) 330-8071.
All Teachers
- Teachers specify the desired date of the Center visit.
- Teachers indicate which School Program is chosen.
- For “Standard School Visit”, please indicate choice of Program 1-4.
- For “Customized School Visit”, please describe what you would like.
- Please indicate a second program choice in case your first choice is not available on the date of your visit.
Admission and Payment
- The Center can accommodate up to 60 students at a time.
- Year-round admission is $6.00 per student when part of a school group, year-round. This fee applies to all students.
- For every 10 students (winter) or 5 students (summer), there must be one adult chaperone or teacher who attends free of charge.
- Additional chaperones may attend by paying the student rate of $6.00.
Full payment in cash, credit card, or by single check for the entire group should be made at the ticket window on the day of the visit.
Cancellations
All cancellations must be made within ten working days prior to your scheduled Center visit. Cancellations made with fewer than ten working days' notice will result in a $25 charge.
Scholarships
It is the Center’s policy that no child be prevented from participating in a school visit because of inability to pay the admission fee. We have student scholarships available by prior arrangement only. For more information, contact the Education Programs Manager at 907-330-8000.
What to Bring
Please dress appropriately for an outdoor tour and ensure that all students have warm hand and head gear. If specific supplies are needed for your school visit, we will notify you ahead of time.
Food
No food or beverages are available for purchase at the Center on weekdays during the winter season. We allow students to bring and eat sack lunches at the Center. They may eat in the uncarpeted areas (the Crossroads or the foyer). Please be sure students clean up thoroughly after themselves.
Supplementary Materials for the Classroom
At the end of each visit, teachers are given handouts containing activity ideas, materials and suggestions for ways to reinforce in the classroom what the students learn at the Center.
